The enhanced Digital Address Verification is an efficient way to confirm a user’s current physical address without the need for in-person agents or physical inspections. It combines live geolocation tracking, utility bill validation, and real-time photo capture to ensure that users are physically present at their declared addresses. This verification method is ideal for:
  • Remote onboarding
  • Instant KYC checks
  • Hybrid address screening
  • Fraud prevention and compliance validation
By integrating this flow within the Dojah eKYC widget, businesses can collect, validate, and verify address information in real time, ensuring accuracy and reducing fraud risk.

HOW IT WORKS

Step 1: Widget Configuration

Businesses can configure their address verification in the EasyOnboard dashboard by enabling any of the following features:
ConfigurationDescriptionDependency
Verify Geo-LocationTracks the user’s live geolocation within a 50m radius of the entered address.None
Utility Bill ValidationRequires the user to upload a valid utility bill (≤ 3 months old).Must be enabled with Verify Geo-Location
Proof of AddressRequires users to capture images of their residence.Must be enabled with Utility Bill + Geo-Location

Step 2: Address Entry

Users enter their address within the eKYC widget form. The user must grant location permission before proceeding. The Address Entry Page includes:
  • Address Field: Text input with auto-suggestion for faster entry.
  • State & LGA: Dropdown selections dynamically filtered by the user’s country and state.
  • Landmark: Text input for additional context.

Step 3: Geo-Location Verification

When “Verify Geo-Location” is enabled:
  • The system compares the user’s live coordinates with the address entered.
  • A proximity check ensures the location is within 50 metres of the provided address.

Step 4: Utility Bill Validation

When “Utility Bill” is enabled:
  • Users are prompted to capture a utility bill image.
  • The interface displays: “Ensure your utility bill is not more than 3 months old.”
  • The system extracts address information from the uploaded document for validation.
  • Utility Bill Verification is always tied to Geo-Location Verification to ensure the address corresponds to the user’s live location.

Step 5: Proof of Address Capture

When “Proof of Address” is enabled:
  • The system guides users to capture three live images:
  1. Front of the house (within the compound)
  2. House showing gate and visible house number
  3. Street view showing part of the house
  • Users can preview and retake photos before submission.
  • Images are analysed to detect authenticity; blurred or screenshot images are flagged and sent to human review.
